Pitnauer winery

Two decades ago, Hans and Edith Pitnauer took over the winery in Göttlesbrunn, in the region of Carnuntum – yet unknown as a wine producing region in those days. The first written record of wine production dates back to the 17th century, when a family tradition was born. Since that time, the tradition has been passed on and upheld from generation to generation. Hans Pitnauer is generally considered the first winegrower of the region of Carnuntum. This grand seigneur’s expertise and experience, acquired during his travels around the world, and his familiarity with soil fertility conditions in his home country substantially contribute to production of very elegant wines characterized by uniqueness of their substances and properties, e.g. fresh Sauvignon Blanc, pleasant and full-bodied “Bienenfresser”, made from genuine grape variety Zweigelt of very intense cherry aroma and perfectly structured tannins or “Franz-Josef” cuvée. Meantime, the region of Carnuntum has become one of the most prestigious regions of red wine making in Austria. As proven by numerous significant awards, including five successive victories in regional wine competitions and four successive victories in national wine saloons, the Pitnauer Winery still holds the leading position. The winery owns 20 ha of vineyards, which are managed and overseen by Edith Pitnauer. Hans also produces white wine of characteristic charisma such as Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc and Yellow Muscat, using his expert and practical experience. His son Johannes, who has begun contributing to the winemaking’s family tradition only recently, shares love for red wines made from Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and the latest Cabernet Franc with his parents.

The Pitnauer family owns and runs a splendid historical courtyard right in a centre of the wine-growing village Göttlesbrunn. All visitors are warmly welcome. To visit the Pitnauer family’s winery, you are pleased to contact us: RONA Co., Ltd. or contact the Pitnauer family directly.
